I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand
of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

He's there in the Bible's second sentence, hovering over a dark, empty world, about to fill it with life.

Through the Old Testament the Spirit lands on specific individuals and equips them for specific assignments. Joseph. Samson. David. Othniel.

You can equip a man's hands and still not fix his heart. So God promises surgery. Not renovation. Replacement.

The day the Spirit lands on Jesus and, for the first time in the whole story, stays.

The fire that once burned in one bush, that filled one tabernacle, that dwelt in one temple, is now one flame per person.

Not a force. Not a feeling. The personal presence of God. Same Spirit. Same light. And if you belong to Jesus: in you.
